![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() For everything that was featured at the Nintendo E3 2021 Direct, Shacknews has everything you need to know. We’ll have to hold out hope until the next event for an update from Team Cherry. Hollow Knight: Silksong was not at Nintendo’s E3 2021 Direct, likely because it’s still not ready to be shown. Theres no option to pre-order it, the game isnt out, and nothing exists to suggest that Team Cherry would release it in a broken or unfinished state. We here at Shacknews had the chance to play an early build of the game back at E3 2019. I dont know what this has to do with the Silksong forums, though. ![]() Originally planned as a DLC expansion to Hollow Knight, the project grew larger and ended up becoming a full-fledged sequel. Hollow Knight: Silksong was first announced back in early 2019. Hollow Knight: Silksong not getting any update at the Nintendo E3 2021 Direct would strongly imply that the game’s launch is still a bit of a ways away. Surely a bit of a letdown to fans of the 2017 original, it seems that there’s just nothing new to show just yet. Nintendo did not show Hollow Knight: Silksong anywhere at its E3 2021 Direct. Where was Hollow Knight: Silksong at E3 2021? Gilded cities, Lakes of fire, and misted moors are illustrated in exquisite detail and accompanied by a vibrant orchestral score. We tried the game back at E3 2019, and found it to be 'unmistakably Hollow Knight, but with the speed cranked up to 11.' We called the original Hollow Knight 'amazing' in our 9.4/10 review. Hollow Knight: Silksong was nowhere to be found during the Nintendo E3 2021 Direct. The vast inter-connected world of Hollow Knight: Silksong is brought vividly to life in a traditional, hand-crafted, 2D style. Plenty of games got a share of the spotlight, but there was one noticeably missing. Here, the publisher and developer shared news and updates on video games coming to the Switch in the relatively near future. although surely another Nintendo Direct is happening sometime this month.Nintendo closed out E3 2021 with a special Nintendo Direct. Until then, I'm going to do my best to stop expecting to see Silksong again anytime soon. I want to be surprised again and again, just like I was in the first game, as I kept stumbling into new areas.Īs with Elden Ring's 2021 Summer Game Fest appearance, I think Silksong will be worth the wait when it does re-emerge. I want Silksong to preserve the same mystery that I felt in Hollow Knight: I really don't want to know how big the world will be or what kind of enemies I'll run into. When Silksong does come out, I expect it'll make a bigger splash than a Metroid sequel that was 20 years in the making.īut when will that be? Agonizing as the wait is, I'm okay with Team Cherry working away without the distractions of maintaining a development blog or tweeting out art or screenshots every few weeks. Metroid Dread kicked up a lot of comparisons, too, and I don't think it's too controversial to say that Hollow Knight's combat, art and level design are a cut above. I see a discussion thread from someone new playing it for the first time, and the takeaway is usually: I heard Hollow Knight was good, but I didn't think it would be this good. Since 2019, while Team Cherry has been hard at work on a sequel, Hollow Knight's prestige has only continued to grow. We're closing in on the same amount of time Elden Ring spent in silence. Since then, nothing-a year and a half without a scrap of new information. Then it was quiet for a year, until our sister publication Edge magazine ran a cover feature on Silksong in December 2020. It's understandable: Hollow Knight: Silksong was announced in February 2019 and shown a couple times that year. That sure feels like the Elden Ring subreddit after yet another disappointment, though there aren't quite as many poor souls posting in pain. ![]()
